E-3 CANAL BANK STABILIZATION
Port St. Lucie, FL
The E-3 Canal banks were failing and needed to be stabilized to prevent further loss and damage, prompting the City to ask for a professional engineering design. Design Phase I included researching the existing soil design parameters, a geotechnical analysis report, conceptual typical canal cross-sections for the recommended options, preliminary cost estimates, and meetings with City staff to select an improvement option. Design Phase II consists of finalizing the typical canal cross-section, preparation of construction plans, specifications, engineers’ cost estimate, bid specifications, permitting, utility coordination, and public information meetings. In addition, it will be necessary to perform underground utility location and tree vegetation removal assessments, regulatory permitting, outreach plan implementation, and assist with bidding and construction management of the proposed phased improvements.
