FLAGLER DRIVE DOWNTOWN SEAWALL AND SOUTH COVE NATURAL AREA BOARDWALK

West Palm Beach, FL

As part of the downtown revitalization of the City of West Palm Beach and the Lake Worth Lagoon cleanup, the aging seawall along Flagler Drive was replaced with a new 2,900-foot seawall using precast concrete sheet panels and piles with a cast-in-place concrete cap. The newly constructed seawall provides the City with at least 50 years of Intracoastal shoreline protection and allows for additional docks and piers to be added each year.

In addition to assisting the City with the seawall, structural analysis, design, and construction phase services were provided for a new lagoon fishing and sightseeing boardwalk. The boardwalk was constructed using concrete piles and pile caps with a wood deck walking surface and a cable railing system.
