FLYING COW RANCH ROAD PROJECT
This 150-acre project involves a tree farm proposed to become a residential aviation and equestrian estate development. The site contains approximately 45 acres of wetlands and 11 acres of surface waters scattered throughout highly organic soils at the edge of the Everglades. Consequently, biologists needed to conduct extensive field investigations. In addition, the project required challenging reviews and negotiations with federal and state regulators. As a result of these extensive reviews and negotiations with agency staff, the number of jurisdictional wetlands was kept to a minimum, thereby reducing the compensatory mitigation requirements for permitting.
