SR 8 (I-10) DESIGN-BUILD FROM ESCAMBIA BAY BRIDGE TO EAST OF SR 281 (AVALON BOULEVARD)
Santa Rosa County, FL
This Design-Build project expanded I-10 from four to six lanes between the Escambia Bay Bridge and the SR 281 (Avalon Boulevard) interchange, reconstructed the I-10/SR 281 interchange to accommodate a future six-lane typical section, included a new I-10 grade separation and approach profile, upgraded existing stormwater management facilities and existing conveyance systems to the facilities, and reconstructed traffic signals at the SR 281 ramp intersections and under-bridge lighting. WGI innovatively eliminated 32 out of 34 conflicts between the utility owner, contractor, and drainage designer through negotiations, and by working individually with each utility agency owner. One of the remaining conflicts with the rigid inclusions avoided a timely relocation with Gulf Power by allowing the contractor to place the conduits for the relocation. The work for Pace Water relocation was scheduled for a later date with a temporary downtime due to the minimal activity on this line.
