I-75 EXPRESS LANES SEGMENT D
Broward County, FL
Improvements in this project include the design and construction of new express lanes within the existing median and a barrier wall separated, four-lane tolled roadway. The project also involves the reconstruction of the Sheridan Street Interchange. Additional improvements include a new I-75 express lanes bridge over the C-11 Canal, widening and lengthening of the existing Sheridan Street Overpass Bridge, and milling and resurfacing of the I-75 General Purpose lanes. Certified arborists were responsible for evaluating and grading the existing trees in accordance with Florida standards and assisting with tree relocations throughout the project. Additional responsibilities included modifying the previously issued permits. All stormwater management facilities within the project right-of-way were claimed as jurisdictional wetlands and wood stork-suitable foraging habitat, requiring extensive coordination with design staff to avoid exceeding the previously permitted impact acreage and pre-purchased wetland mitigation, as well as the creation of offsetting foraging areas.
