L-34 CANAL RELOCATION
Palm Beach County, FL
Compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act required reevaluation of the original Categorical Exclusion Document by obtaining a Project Development & Environment reevaluation, as well as various permits, for the relocation of the canal to widen the road, as well as for the stormwater management system. Additionally, permits and/or approvals were required for the remediation of pesticides within a sizeable piece of the right-of-way, due to its use as an old airstrip for a crop-dusting operation. This required careful coordination for excavation and disposal, and the installation of a high-density polyethylene liner to prevent remaining contamination outside of the right-of-way from migrating back in.
