Lake Worth Neighborhood Road Program Website
City of Lake Worth, FL
As part of WGI’s planning team, WGI Creative designed several pieces to promote the city’s largest capital improvement project. One of the most important was a microsite for the City of Lake Worth that would incorporate an interactive map of the construction progress, news, tax impact calculator, a list of public involvement meetings and a contact form. The goal of the website was to make the information intuitive and easily digestible.
We accomplished this through a layout that was organized according to the residents’ hypothetical train of thought when learning about the program, and color coordinating all the districts for easy recognition from the master plan to the meetings calendar. We also developed an interactive map through geographical information system software to show residents the proposed construction and roads that are in progress.
Upon researching related sites, we developed additional features to make the site more useful to residents. These features include a glossary of construction/renovation definitions and types of repairs, a “select language feature” in the navigation bar (for the culturally diverse market), a FAQ section, quick links to the city’s Twitter account, a pop up for first-time visitors to add their emails and neighborhoods for email updates on work in their neighborhood, and a video archive of meetings for residents unable to attend.
We also worked with the mayor and city manager to create a video describing the purpose and goals of the program..
