WANTMAN GROUP, INC. SELECTED FOR 3RD SEGMENT OF I-75 EXPRESS LANES PROJECT BY FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT 4
On the heels of its recent win for the I-75 Segments “C” and “D” express lanes project, Wantman Group, Inc. (WGI), in association with Community Asphalt (Community) and Cone & Graham (C&G), secured a huge $233 million Design-Build contract award with Segment AB.
Whereas the Segment “C” project spans 3.6-miles from Miramar Parkway to Sheridan Street, and Segment “D” adds express lanes on I-75 from Sheridan Street to north of Griffin Road, Segment AB is the largest and most complex contract of the corridor, and extends 3.1 miles from NW 170th Street to south of Miramar Parkway. It will provide express lanes in the existing I-75 median along with 2.6 miles of reconstruction of the Homestead Extension of Florida’s Turnpike to accommodate a direct median-to-median flyover express lane connection and new systems’ interchange movements, as well as new CD roads and ramps at the Miami Gardens interchange. With this win, WGI was fortunate to be selected as the prime designer on three of the four I-75 express lane projects in District 4. WGI will lead the Design Team for this $233 million segment that is a critical component of overall improvements to the corridor in both Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
“We are pleased to once again partner with District 4 and with Community and C&G,” said David Wantman, PE, president of WGI. “Community, C&G, and FDOT have been our partners for many years and their trust in WGI on this significant project is a testament to our entire team’s commitment to deliver. Express Lanes are a recognized and proven method to aid traffic management by introducing congestion pricing that creates new options for transportation agencies and motorists. With decreased funding, increased congestion, and constrained corridors, express lanes are a viable, cost-effective option to improve mobility and enhance economic development. We are excited to be the lead design partner on three of the four I-75 express lane segments and look forward to a successful delivery”
WGI has consistently worked with the FDOT for over 40 years. As a multi-disciplinary consulting firm, WGI has six offices throughout Florida and is comprised of eight separate divisions devoted to the following disciplines: Civil Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Surveying and Mapping, Subsurface Utility Engineering, Construction, Environmental, and Planning services. WGI was recognized as a Zweig 2014 Best Firm to Work For, and recognized for four consecutive years on The Zweig White Hot Firm List. The list contains 200 of the fastest–growing architecture, engineering, planning, and environmental consulting firms in the country. The South Florida Business Journal recently ranked WGI number 8 on the “Top 25 Engineering Firms in South Florida” list.
