The location of this 406-space design/build parking structure, located adjacent to the central business district, was key to redeveloping the Jamaica section of Queens. This urban neighborhood was in need of parking for residential and retail patrons. As in most urban settings, a zero setback was held for the north and south walls, thereby making construction of this project complicated. A 6,000-squarefoot retail component partially offset from the parking structure has a shared firewall, creating complicated waterproofing details.

• Turnstiles used instead of gates or doors at stair towers
