Block 89 is a mixed-used development located in Capitol Square, an area surrounding the State Capitol Building in downtown Madison. It was the largest redevelopment project in the history of Capitol Square. The project included the 10-story Doty Street Building, the three-story Burrows Block Building, the five-story One East Main addition, provisions for a future five-story building and a five-level, 742-space, below-grade parking structure. The extensive amount of engineering and construction innovation demonstrated on the five-level underground parking structure was the result of a year-and-a-half of conceptual design and planning by the Design-Build team.
• The Wisconsin Association of Consulting Engineers awarded this project the Engineering Excellence Honor Award.
• Structure extends 55 feet below the street, 40 feet below adjacent buildings and 15 feet below water table
• Structure durability is enhanced by a conventionally reinforced flat plate structural floor system coated with a traffic bearing membrane
