The City of South Bay, Florida, has been granted $2,080,000 through the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Repair Grant Program, which is supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program. All requested and rendered professional services, are compensated by CDBG-DR program funds. In 2023, WGI was awarded a Professional Consulting Services contract by the City of South Bay. WGI’s responsibilities encompass a range of services vital to the city’s recovery efforts, including Planning & Public Engagement, Critical Facility Demolition, Brownfields/Environmental Activities & Site Clean Up, Building Site Prep and Mitigation, as well as Project Management & Grant Administration.

Project Highlights:

• Brownfield activities and environmental services include Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, site cleanup, removal and restoration, and the design and implementation of Engineering controls. WGI’s environmental team has completed a Background Study of Contaminants of Concern near the Tanner Park Brownfield site. In support of the release of the CDBG-DR grant funding for the Brownfield cleanup, WGI conducted a preliminary NEPA assessment and determined that the site will meet the criteria for Categorical Exclusion. Preparation of a Categorical Exclusion Subject report for submittal to Florida’s DEO is in progress.
