This survey encompassed over 10,000 acres of land on the west side of the current Storm Treatment Area 2 (STA-2) site in western Palm Beach County. The purpose of the task was to produce the survey drawings necessary to facilitate design and construction of the north and south build-outs of the STA along with a certified boundary survey. The project was specific to gathering topographic features, drainage, rock probes, canal cross sections, existing levees, and improvements on the site.
The project was completed utilizing a variety of specialty equipment including GPS, all terrain vehicles, a Marsh Master amphibious track vehicle and conventional surveying to accomplish the field work over a five-month timeframe. The project was completed on time and within the budget established by the South Florida Water Management District.
