As a result of a Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) in Warren and several other BRAC construction projects elsewhere, the Detroit Arsenal expanded its facilities to accommodate 1,200 positions relocated from other installations around the country.
Design-Build delivery method of the 1,800-space parking structure allowed for fast-track construction. A double-threaded helix ramping configuration significantly enhanced traffic circulation and entry/exit capacity. Special attention was paid to security, including glass stair enclosures, uniform lighting, high floor clearance, and reduced line-of-site obstructions.
This development includes a 230,340 square-foot administration building, maintenance, and operations center. The U.S. Green Building Council awarded this overall project LEED Gold Certification.
