Located in the heart of downtown Buffalo, the facade of this parking structure features a blend of architectural elements drawn from adjacent historical buildings. It is also designed to accommodate a three-level vertical expansion in the future.
The structure was selected to receive the International Parking Institute’s Merit Award for Parking Structure Design. It also received Honorable Mention from the AIA Buffalo/Western New York Chapter.
Project Highlights:
• Four-bay side-by-side helix with one-way traffic
• Below-grade level designed to facilitate future bus staging area
• Retail space on ground level
• Three glass-backed elevators and four glass- and brick-enclosed stair towers
• Voice-activated emergency intercom system
• Cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete long-span beams and slabs, steel pipe foundations and architectural precast concrete façade panels
