With the recent incorporation of Indiantown Village and expansion of its utility service area, Florida Power & Light (FPL) agreed to allow Indiantown Village to supply its Martin Power Plant with potable water and sanitary sewer services. The initial scope of the design was to provide a 6-inch force main and an 8-inch potable water main parallel to each other within the FPL transmission corridor between the Indiantown Village Cogeneration Facility and the FPL Martin Plant. This route was approximately 5-miles in length. Due to FPL’s conversion of its power supply from fossil fuel based to solar generation, staff at the plant is being reduced and the sanitary sewage waste stream was determined to be insufficient to justify the force main. The final design included a 5-mile 4-inch water main and two 1,800 square foot septic drain fields.
