In an effort to seek continued economic growth, Elgin’s city leaders retained WGI as part of a design-build team for this five-level, 554-space parking structure downtown. The parking structure features a complex foundation and a tight inner-site site. Its brick veneer was designed to complement both the new and historic buildings in the area. An elevated pedestrian bridge connects to an adjacent restaurant.
This project was selected by the American Public Works Association/Chicago Metropolitan Chapter Fox Valley Branch as the Project of the Year ($2-$10 Million).
• Features two double-loaded parking bays with one-way traffic in a single-threaded helix
• Precast/prestressed concrete framing system with field-cast wash
• Clear height is maintained at 9’6” to accommodate city vehicles at all levels
