Located in the heart of downtown, the Gateway Building is White Plains’ premier office facility. Ten years after the original construction of the Gateway Building and its 1,000-space parking structure, the owner launched a $1.1 million two-phase improvement project to renovate the Gateway Building and provide additional parking in an attractive landscaped setting.
A two-story vertical expansion of the existing parking structure consisted of steel beams and columns framed with post-tensioned concrete slabs designed to match the existing structure with similar architectural features and finishes. By using a steel framing system for the expansion, the owner saved significant time and cost. The owner was also able to keep most of the garage open and in service during construction because a minimal amount of shoring was required.

• Concrete façade with curved spandrel panels
• Existing structure is cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete with long-span beams and slabs
