The Getchell Street Parking Garage provides parking for monthly and transient patrons of the Great Northern Town Center, a mixed-use development in the heart of Helena that includes residences, offices, shops, restaurants and hotels with convention centers.
The 413-space structure provides access to Getchell Street from the top level and to 14th Street and Shoofly Way from the lower level. Oversize parking spaces accommodate the pickups and all-terrain vehicles common in the city.
During excavation, contractors discovered that the site was over an abandoned mine, which required major changes to the foundation system and retaining walls.
This project received an Award of Excellence from the Montana Contractors’ Association.
