WGI was tasked with an ongoing client relationship involving 3rd party review of storm shelter shelter designs and pre-construction to ensure that the shelters meet the latest ICC 500 requirements. This is typically a multidisciplinary review for various projects throughout the state of Texas. Each project must fit within the ICC 500 requirements, but the types of shelters and requirements vary individually. Trenton High School will also represent a community shelter and must meet certain amenity requirements as well as egress for a larger group than a small fire station might.
WGI is well-equipped to analyze these facilities for safety and security during a storm. This type of analysis helps WGI develop secure storm facilities in a hurricane or tornado emergency.
