Once called the 222 Building, this four-story cast-iron storefront structure on First Street recently received a facelift and a new name: Jefferson Centre. The first phase of the redevelopment project included construction of a 430-space parking garage for the building on Jefferson Street.
The Parking Authority of River City (PARC), the owner of the parking garage and responsible for its long-term maintenance and operations, retained WGI during the design phase of the parking structure to represent its interests by providing review, oversight and construction administration assistance.
As an owner’s representative, WGI assisted with criteria development and review of the design progress submittals. WGI confirmed that the design considered function, operations and performance with respect to maintenance, future repairs and service life, ensuring that the parking structure was designed and constructed with a goal of long-term service with reduced maintenance and repair costs.
WGI also assisted during construction by reviewing the progress and quality of construction and confirming that the structure was constructed in conformance with the final design drawings.
