The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) engaged WGI to conduct a study of the parking market conditions at and around the Nashville International Airport. The study’s purpose was to assess the airport’s parking needs — including employee and public parking facilities — at both five- and ten-year intervals. The assessment considered parking capacity, efficiency, revenue maximization, fee structure, and customer service goals.Â
In estimating future parking revenues, WGI included an evaluation of how sensitive airport travelers would be to changes in public parking rates, specifically whether an increase would result in volume shifts between the airport’s parking facilities or in the potential loss of business to off-airport competitors.Â
The study involved on-site examination, observations of competing off-airport facilities, interviews with MNAA and Central Parking System staff, field observations, and the development of the sensitivity model that was used in the analysis of probable outcomes for prospective rate changes.Â
