WGI performed a comprehensive review of revenue and financial controls employed at the airport’s public parking facilities. The primary focus was a thorough operational analysis of the new license-plate recognition (LPR) system recently installed in all parking areas. The objective was to determine whether the system and supporting control procedures were meeting expectations and providing an enhanced level of protection for parking revenues. 

Project Highlights: 

• Evaluate the effectiveness of policies and procedures established by both the airport and the operator 
• Evaluate operator compliance with contractual requirements and airport directives 
• Identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency, administrative systems, customer service, and financial controls
• Perform a thorough examination of the LPR system to identify any points of vulnerability requiring system modifications or changes in the existing audit program 
• Develop supplemental audit tools and procedures needed to maximize the system’s revenue-control integrity 
• Test a sample of system fee computations and revenue reporting, evaluation of cash-control procedures, revenue-accounting processes, audit procedures, reporting and report formats, employee training related to revenue control, and revenue-control system maintenance program
