WGI recently completed a Survey of approximately 9-miles of a portion of SFWMD’s DISCHARGE CANAL SEEPAGE CANAL and DITCH System on the border of Eastern Hendry County and Western Palm Beach County.
This particular Survey, in addition to being a continuation of our lengthy relationship with this Client, was prepared for SFWMD to Contract for both Canal and Ditch Design Modifications in order to convey water from Lake Okeechobee to Stormwater Treatment Areas 5/6, (STA 5/6).
The ultimate goal of this Project is to convey excess water from Lake Okeechobee to STA 5/6 at various times throughout the year in an effort to ultimately benefit the Everglades.
WGI’s Survey effort included the review and determination of Sixteen Land Sections that encompass this Canal and Ditch System, a Topographic Survey of same, the establishment of numerous Benchmarks throughout the Project Limits, as well as Cross-Sections.
WGI also reviewed Record Documents provided by SFWMD, in addition to performing research to obtain data from different Governmental Agencies in order to properly determine the Canal and Ditch Rights-of-Way.
The work performed will assist with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, culvert replacement / culvert design, new gate structures and canal connections, a new Pump Station, and overall improvements to the Canal and Ditch that will ultimately feed STA 5/6.
We remained in continual contact with SFWMD throughout the length of this Project, as Scope revisions were applied, and to ensure that Client milestones were being met on this schedule.
