River Center

The nine-story Mid-American Energy Company office building, formerly the Iowa- Illinois Gas and Electric Co., is located above six levels of city owned parking and exemplifies a successful public/private partnership. The building is an easily discernible landmark within the redeveloping downtown district.

Project Highlights:

• Three-bay double helix with adjacent flat bay using one-way traffic
• Integrated with a nine-story private office building above the city parking structure
• Three glass-backed stair towers and two elevator towers
• Center core of five elevators serves only the office building above
• Elevated skywalks provide direct access to the River Center expansion, adjacent hotel and adjacent office building
• Cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete long-span beam and slabs
• Precast concrete façade panels with inlaid brick facing and aluminum channel railing
