The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) is the primary agency responsible for managing and protecting water resources across central and southern Florida. This includes balancing conservation efforts with the strategic development of water infrastructure to sustain growing communities, support economic development, and enhance environmental resilience.
To support this mission, WGI has been has been contracted by SFWMD to provide planning, design, permitting, and construction administration to support their
$7B, six-year capital improvement program. This initiative represents a significant investment in critical water infrastructure, ensuring long-term sustainability while addressing Florida’s increasing demand for flood control, water supply, and environmental restoration.
WGI is spearheading a comprehensive team complete with specialized sub-consultants to manage a diverse portfolio of large-scale Water Resource projects. These include the design and implementation of pump stations, levees, water control structures, impoundments, and stormwater treatment areas—all vital components in safeguarding water resources and mitigating climate-related risks.
