Designs, details, and construction phase services were provided to the South Florida Water Management District for a fully automated, electrically operated, three-gate spillway. This G-716 spillway is within the STA-1E Inflow Distribution Area, along the levee between the East Distribution Cell and the West Distribution Cell. The purpose of the proposed G-716 spillway is to increase the capacity of the flow between the East Distribution Cell and the West Distribution Cell from 2,600 cfs to a total of 3,600 cfs.
A gated box culvert (S-375) within this levee remains intact. A temporary structure (G-707) was removed as part of this project. The G-716 spillway was constructed in the same location as the old G-707 culverts.
