With 20.6 million people, Florida trails only California and Texas in population. Like the rest of Florida, each year the population of Leon County continues to grow. To meet the needs of the growing population, the City and County are seeking resources to fund transportation options that enhance mobility and movement of residents and visitors. The Alternative Mobility Funding Systems Study (AMFSS) reviewed the existing funding system and recommended enhancements that would promote mobility for all users.
A significant component of the AMFSS was public outreach and participation that ensured the citizenry was given full consideration in the decision-making process. The WGI team conducted over fifty stakeholder meetings, facilitated a public workshop in the charrette format, presented midterm findings to the Network of Entrepreneurs and Business Advocates, and hosted a table at the Downtown Market. All feedback received during this extensive outreach process influenced the final recommendation.
