University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics Underground Parking Structure

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) new 652-space underground parking structure supports a recently completed Children’s Hospital and a future 11-story patient bed tower building to be constructed on top of the new underground parking structure.

Project Highlights:

• An extensively landscaped plaza is atop the parking structure, creating a new front door experience for UIHC
• Design elements such as flat floors, open stairs, glass-backed elevators, bright/ uniform lighting, and other unique features were included to increase safety and enhance user comfort
• Congested site with the parking structure working around existing utilities, tunnels, buildings, and skywalks
