The West Dade Regional Library, also known as the Westchester Regional Library, is the second-largest library in Miami-Dade County. In addition to providing books, magazines, newspapers, CDs, and computers, the library also serves as a community center for the residents of Westchester, featuring an upstairs children’s area, thriving indoor gardens, and frequently changing exhibits. The building sits on 8 acres adjoining the Francisco Human Rights Park and the residential area of Town Park Estates. Bordering the property on the west side is a large FPL powerline corridor.
The Miami-Dade Public Library System, through its Continuing Surveying and Mapping Services contract with the County, contracted with WGI to provide survey services to support future improvements to the library. WGI performed Boundary and Topographic Surveys, locating all trees and park equipment. Additionally, WGI performed online research for title and encumbrances. Adhering to safety guidelines and public awareness, WGI coordinated onsite scheduling with the project manager to ensure library staff was aware of outside consultants working on the premises. Onsite fieldwork was completed in two days, and the overall deliverable was sent within two weeks from notice to proceed.
