Gateway Station was considered key to revitalizating Golden’s historic downtown core. The redevelopment of the site, which comprised nearly three-fourths of a city block, consisted of two phases. Phase One included the demolition of all existing buildings and the construction of a new five-story, mixed-use building.
Phase Two involved construction of an additional four-story retail and residential building along 13th Street which featured 48 residential units, 24,860-square-feet of retail, 11,000-square-feet of office space, and 83 below-grade parking stalls.
Critical to the success of this project was the strong public and private support from numerous groups, including the City of Golden, Golden Civic Foundation, Golden Urban Renewal Authority, the local merchants association, and numerous citizens who understand the importance of improving and maintaining the vitality of historic downtown Golden.
