The concrete slabs at 510 Belmont parking garage were in a state of severe deterioration at the time of our initial evaluation. Working in conjunction with the Owner, it was determined that the most cost-effective long-term approach was a full replacement of the mid-level slab and repairs to the upper-level slabs and columns.
WGI designed and implemented the repairs to the facility, including full slab replacement of the middle level. The slabs were designed with durability in mind. They included installing a traffic-bearing membrane at all supported levels to meet the Owner’s objectives for service life and reduced ongoing maintenance.
Additionally, the design included subtle alterations to the middle-level elevations and careful coordination of lighting, drainage, and sprinkler piping resulting in improved slope to drains and an increase in headroom clearance from 6’-0” to over 6’-6”. The design also included new stairwells and painting, improving the overall function and aesthetics of the facility.
