The Binks Pointe Pathway project is a multi-use trail. This segment of the project begins at Flying Cow Ranch Road on the west, crosses the C-1 Canal, and extends approximately 500 feet to the east (near the northeast corner of the FPL substation) in the Village of Wellington, Florida.
WGI provided civil design, permitting, bid support, and structural engineering for the 8-feet wide pedestrian bridge over the C-1 Canal. The single-span bridge is approximately 80-feet in length. The multi-use trail from the bridge to the end of the project has an 8-feet wide asphalt pathway.
During construction, WGI attended a pre-construction meeting and reviewed shop drawings for the prefabricated bridge and calculations, concrete mix designs, prestressed piles, reinforcing steel, and coatings. WGI performed site visits, including the monitoring of concrete pile driving, and observed the progress of the structural components.
