Brightline - Trains North-South Infrastructure

Client:
Brightline Trains Florida LLC
Market:
Transportation
Location:
Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Brevard Counties, Florida

Project Details

The Brightline Project requires the rehabilitation of Florida East Coast Railroad’s existing track and sidings, construction of a new second main track, reconstruction of over 30 existing railroad bridges, construction/ rehabilitation of 155 railroad grade crossings, corridor-wide fiber optic installation and upgrades, corridor-wide upgrades to existing railroad signaling and grade crossing warning systems and various other civil, drainage and track upgrades from West Palm Beach, FL to the Cocoa Beach, FL (approximately 130 miles) in the active FEC Railroad Right-of-Way.

WGI is providing ongoing surveying and mapping, on-call SUE services, and as-needed technical engineering services for the Herzog, Stacy, and Witbeck and RailWorks, Joint Venture (HSR Constructors (HSRC)) responsible portions of Brightline’s Phase II intercity commuter rail project throughout its North/ South Corridor.

In May 2019, HSRC entered a contract employing the services of WGI as the chosen Professional Surveyor and Mapper responsible for establishing project network control, corridor mapping that also utilized WGl’s Hi-Rail mobile LiDAR solution, right-of-way research, boundary survey, all construction surveying, structures settlement monitoring, and on-call subsurface utility engineering to resolve potential utility conflicts with new construction. WGI also delivers complete as-built surveys for the newly constructed roadway crossings of the newly constructed rail.

WGI has successfully managed the survey services for three-plus years by holding daily production and scheduling team meetings to communicate the day’s schedule and “look ahead.” HSR Constructors have recognized attention to safety through multiple “Safety Crew of the Month” awards for our surveying field crews, recognizing our commitment to safety at WGI.
