Broward County Alpha 250

Client:
Broward County Solid Waste and Recycling Services
Market:
Cities and Communities, Parks
Location:
Broward County, FL

Project Details

WGI was hired by the SWRS under our continuing services contract with Broward County to assist in amending a 28-acre conservation easement over a wetland preserve. The property has been under a conservation easement since 1999; however, the County has had a difficult time keeping it in compliance due to a large unhoused encampment on the property. As a result, the SWRS tasked WGI with assessing the quality of the existing conservation easement and identifying and assessing a new location for the preserve area within Tradewinds Park. WGI prepared a restoration and management plan for the proposed 56-acre preserve area addressing the removal of exotic vegetation and preservation of existing natural resources. WGI is currently representing the SWRS in permitting with the South Florida Water Management District.

Project Highlights:

  • WGI used our expertise in natural resources assessment and management to develop a proactive, affordable plan to meet the County’s requests.
