The Campus at Legacy West, home to the headquarters of JC Penney in Plano, Texas was acquired by Silos Harvesting Partners in 2017. With new tenants and new development expected on the property, the need for additional parking and structural maintenance/restoration was realized.

WGI’s design team was tasked with expanding the parking operation on campus by opening the roof levels of the existing garages to parking. This included the construction of new exterior access ramps, vertical expansion of twenty stairs, repair and restoration of the roof level precast framing, new light fixtures, and the addition of over 1,300 new parking spaces.

The expansion of parking on this site presented many challenges, including the provision for new vehicular access, upgrading the structure for guardrail and vehicular barrier compliance, taking preventative measures in the repair and maintenance of the roof level structural members, and accomodating the increased ADA parking demand.
