WGI Structural Systems staff worked closely with the Art & Culture Group (ACG) to create this unique, one-of-a-kind site wall for the Casa Del Mar community in Boynton Beach, Florida. Satisfying the City’s “art in public places” requirement, the client replaced a proposed vertical stucco wall with a work of art that also functions as a site wall. The client commissioned ACG to develop the concept of an “emerging mangrove” to blend with the native vegetation common to the shorelines along the Intracoastal Waterway.
The art piece simulates the scenic waterway view, which was blocked by the proposed buildings and site wall, and enhances what would otherwise be a straight, commercial-looking barrier wall blocking the view of the Intracoastal. The main feature of the art piece was precast to allow the artist to create the piece in a controlled environment and set into place once completed.
