The City of Georgetown is surrounded by one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the country. The historic Town Square area is home to numerous retail and restaurant venues, local and county festivals, and special events – including the annual Red Poppy Festival that draws upwards of 30,000 people per day—due to rapid growth and increasing pressures on its downtown parking system, the City of Georgetown selected WGI to perform a downtown parking study and develop a Downtown Parking Management Plan. WGI was also selected to lead the design of the City’s first parking structure in the heart of its growing downtown.
WGI designed a new, state-of-the-art parking structure providing 315 parking spaces on five levels. The structure includes 4,000 square feet of finished space for City functions and has a below-grade level along with a top-level that is a setback to minimize the perceived height. The architecture celebrates the City’s modern urban infill and historic downtown heritage.
