The Kalamazoo Parking Deck #1 is located within the central business district of downtown Kalamazoo. The parking structure was constructed in 1970 (Phase I), expanded in 1978 (Phase II), and provides approximately 927 parking spaces.Â
WGI has assisted the owner with the implementation of substantial repairs since 1987. In addition, WGI developed concepts and drawings to improve the exterior appearance and remove a portion of the structure adjacent to a historic building. Brick was added to the columns and lower and upper-level spandrels to soften the structure’s impact economically.Â
