WGI provided the City of West Palm Beach with design services and FDOT LAP assistance for the final phase of the Turquoise Trail, consisting of a mile of new pedestrian trail and 700 feet of boardwalk across Clear Lake, connecting the trail to Downtown West Palm Beach. Clear Lake is Class 1 water and the City’s drinking water source. The design for the boardwalk included timber decking and railing supported on piling within Clear Lake. Two foundation systems were used for the project: prestressed concrete piles for elevated portions of the sidewalk where the boardwalk meets up with Okeechobee Blvd and multi-pin diamond piers for the majority of the boardwalk. WGI provided structure design, civil engineering, landscape architecture, environment services, SUE, and survey services for the project.
