The Oxbridge Academy of the Palm Beaches is a private college preparatory high school located in West Palm Beach, Florida. WGI designed and permitted the 13-acre Athletic Complex for the school’s various athletic programs. The main components of the Athletic Complex included two athletic fields designed to accommodate high school regulation football, soccer, and lacrosse activities.
One of the athletic fields is an all-artificial turf field with an extensive underdrain and collection system to accommodate significant rainfall events and allows the students to play on the field soon after a rainfall event without damaging the playing surface. The second field is a natural turf field designed with highly specialized turf with a sand base under the fields to allow the fields to drain quickly.
In addition to the design of the athletic fields, WGI designed the on-site water management system, lift station and force main system, restroom facilities, pedestrian walkways, and a 12-inch, 1,600-linear-foot watermain extension adjacent to Military Trail right-of-way. WGI also provided various surveying services, including easement abandonment, boundary and topographical surveys, easement sketches and descriptions, and record drawings and traffic control plans. Permits for the Athletic Complex were secured from the South Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Transportation, Palm Beach County Health Department, and the City of West Palm Beach.
