The City of Coconut Creek contracted WGI to update the City’s Green Plan Sustainability Report by creating a new Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP). The WGI team compared policy objectives between the Broward County Climate Action Plan (BCCAP) and the City’s Green Plan to find areas of agreement, as well as incorporating findings from the Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment (CCVA) that WGI completed for the City in late 2024.
WGI was able to refresh the plan to reflect the sustainability goals of the City while remaining consistent with the BCCAP and CCVA. The Coconut Creek CCAP has identified two goals: 1) reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and 2) increase community resilience against climate change. These goals are met by focusing on policy, community health, the built environment, transportation, water and energy resources, and the natural environment. WGI finalized the CCAP by providing a project tracker so the City can keep track of the progress of the CCAP policies using specific performance measures.
