Project Details

WGI provided a full suite of environmental services for a 101.63-acre property that has historically been utilized as an equestrian training facility. This property required careful evaluation to assess its environmental viability and to comply with regulatory standards.

In collaboration with Palm Beach County's Environmental Resource Management division, WGI obtained the necessary permits to address potential impacts on the site’s natural resources. This process involved a comprehensive wetland delineation, tree inventory, and wildlife survey. WGI’s team of expert arborists and environmental scientists meticulously surveyed the entire property for protected species, inventoried and speciated 678 trees, and delineated numerous wetlands and several surface water features across the property. The surveys were conducted with precision and efficiency, ensuring that all environmental aspects were thoroughly documented and evaluated. The wetland delineation helped in understanding the hydrological dynamics of the site, which is crucial for maintaining the ecological balance and for planning any future developments. Through coordination with the environmental team, a 2.07-acre wetland preserve, which became known as Bird Island was established to protect the wetland system and provide habitat for the wading bird population. The establishment of Bird Island required the removal of a myriad of invasives species from within the wetland area. WGI worked closely with Environmental Services Unlimited (ESU) for the management plan to re-establish a Florida native habitat community on Bird Island. The wildlife survey ensured that any protected species were identified and considered in the land use planning process.

As a result of site due diligence an area was discovered to contain stained soils which required further investigation and ultimately a de minimus soil cleanup. WGI provided technical oversight of the de minimus contaminated soil cleanup. The soil was removed from an area within the vicinity of the former above ground storage tank locations. In total, 29.02 tons of soil were excavated and transported to Monarch Hill Landfill for disposal.

WGI’s ability to successfully conduct these types of surveys, land management planning, and reporting is essential for sustainable land management and regulatory compliance. By providing accurate and comprehensive environmental assessments, WGI supports responsible development practices that protect and enhance natural resources, ensuring that projects align with environmental regulations, lawful use of herbicides and pesticide application within conservation areas, and contribute to long-term ecological sustainability.

Project Highlights:

  • This project included the establishment of a wetland conservation area, regulatory permitting, and technical contamination support. This effort showcased WGI’s ability to collect, organize, and promote responsible development utilizing many of WGI’s talented and knowledgeable environmental disciplines.
