Cranbrook Academy of Art Parking Structure

Client:
Cranbrook Academy of Art
Market:
Education, Higher Education, Parking
Location:
Bloomfield Hills, MI

Project Details

This 232-space parking structure is a two-level facility that provides student, faculty and visitor parking for the Institute of Science Building at the Cranbrook Academy campus. The design minimizes the profile of the structure by over-excavating the site. The two levels function independently and can be accessed from two different points.

To lower the profile of the parking structure, the site was excavated to a depth of approximately 15 feet below the existing grade. The soil around the perimeter was bermed to provide natural light and ventilation to the lower level.

The two levels function independently with separate vehicle access to the upper and lower levels. Provisions allow for the installation of future parking access/revenue control equipment.
