Voters in the City of Lake Worth Beach overwhelmingly approved the proposed Neighborhood Road Program in the November 2016 election. Approximately 67% of the voters supported funding the program through a general obligation bond of $40M. The Neighborhood Road Program is the City’s largest capital improvement project to date. It will dramatically improve not only transportation throughout the City’s residential areas but improve water distribution and wastewater collection.

The City separated the program into Districts and spread it over a period of four years. The City then selected Mock Roos to provide preliminary engineering, designing, permitting, bidding, and post-design services of the improvements for District 1. As part of Mock Roos’ team, WGI, Inc. (WGI) provided full survey design services, including right-of-way mapping, topographic surveying, drainage, and subsurface utility engineering to assist with the design plans. WGI provided design support for over six linear miles through the heart of the City. WGI utilized mobile LiDAR, a complete mobile mapping, and survey solution, to collect accurate and detailed data through sensors due to the length of the project and the scattered project locations. The entire project was captured in a single day once control was established. The mobile LiDAR collection method allowed the designers to extend limits when the project design demanded it without burdening the budget by requiring supplemental purchase orders for additional fieldwork. WGI also provided more than 25 test holes to support the design when utility conflicts were possible.
