The Fifth Third Center, constructed in 1991, is a 28-story steel-framed high-rise office building located in downtown Cleveland. The exterior wall cladding of the building consists of granite panels anchored to pre-cast concrete panels. Reportedly the building experienced water infiltration since it was first opened. A review of the exterior walls revealed deterioration and failure of the sealant joints and cracks and spalls within the granite panels.
WGI was retained to perform construction administration for this multi-year project. Restoration includes the replacement of sealant joints to waterproof the exterior walls and stone repairs.
