Fire Stations 72 and 74 were designed as a site adaptable structures and were constructed at South Bay and Pahokee Florida for the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Department. The Fire Stations were constructed to the 2010 Florida Building Code Risk Category III/IV criteria for essential buildings. The buildings were constructed with a combination of reinforced concrete masonry unit walls, reinforced concrete columns and beams and structural steel joists and metal deck. The fire station was designed for three fire rescue vehicles. The stair step plan design accommodated two differing lengths of fire rescue vehicles anticipated for the stations. The special suspended bifold impact rated doors enhance the aesthetics of the station and allow natural light within the open bay area.
