As the Gwinnet Campus of Georgia Perimeter College transitioned into Georgia Gwinnet College (GGC), the first new state college created in Georgia since 1970, GGC administration anticipated growth in student enrollment and an increased demand for parking as a result.
The Georgia Perimeter College Foundation retained WGI to provide structural engineering and functional design services for this 727-space parking structure. Multiple designs and potential site locations were reviewed during the conceptual design phase of the project.
WGI incorporated several durability features to fulfill the owner’s request for a useful life expectancy of 60 years.
• Cast-in-place field-topped precast concrete structure
• Constructed using the design/build project delivery system
• Thin set brick inlaid precast façade
• Three bay structure with two exterior flat bays and a center ramped bay
• 9-foot wide parking spaces
