Collier County awarded WGI this $2.6M project to address stormwater deficiencies and a basin-wide approach to meet flood staging requirements under the Collier County Gordon River Master Plan. This roadway and stormwater improvements project required close coordination with the Naples Zoo and consisted of significant upgrades, including a new Stormwater Treatment Area (STA) with control structures and outfall discharge to the Gordon River, a tidal waterway with fringing swamp and mangrove wetlands. The project is situated in the Gordon River Greenway Park, designated Florida Conservation Lands, which offered a unique opportunity for on-site compensatory wetland and mangrove mitigation. WGI conducted professional services to plan, design, permit, and provide construction bid documents and construction-related services for stormwater improvements.
WGI also teamed up with WRMA to provide survey, SUE, geospatial, civil, traffic, utilities, structural engineering, 3-D modeling, environmental assessment and permitting, water resources engineering, construction administration, and post-design engineering services. Environmental work included environmental assessments, including wetland and mangrove delineations and functional assessment, habitat mapping, wildlife surveys, and mitigation planning and implementation.
