WGI updated the City’s Comprehensive Plan elements for Conservation and Community Health. This included data and analysis as well as the creation or update of the goals, objectives, and policies. WGI coordinated with City staff to create or update GIS maps to illustrate data analyses and improve the useability of the elements by the City and community.
Community Health was a new element for the City, which focused on access to recreation, healthcare, and healthy food. For this element, WGI identified opportunities and barriers the community faced and collected data on the community’s social, physical, and mental well-being. The team analyzed planning approaches to provide healthy conditions to individuals, communities, institutions, and businesses.
For the Conservation Element, WGI evaluated existing and future conditions and needs related to valuable natural communities and the protection of resources. WGI reviewed existing data for resource protection and conversation, sustainability, and resiliency needs and benchmarked, updated, and analyzed, or completely rewrote, the analysis as needed. WGI integrated updated resilience planning design approaches and environmental sustainability of government operations into the element.
Amendments were adopted in November and December 2023.
