WGI was responsible for traffic control plan preparation within the right-of-way required for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure installation and relocation. WGI created detailed traffic control plans at various construction sites by routing traffic around the work area while implementing effective strategies to anticipate traffic impacts without much interruption to the public. Using the latest safety design standards from the TXMUTCD and the City of Austin, WGI was responsible for designing the project’s most efficient traffic control plans. The traffic control plans ranged from pedestrian rerouting, detour plans, and lane closures, considering various issues such as type of highway, road user conditions, duration of operation, physical constraints, and nearness of the workspace to road users.
The project involved the demolition of the existing structure and building of a multiple-level parking structure and an approximately 80,000-square-foot grocery store. Services included survey, civil engineering design, traffic impact analysis, intersection design, dry utility design, MEP design, traffic signal design, lighting planning, and design, municipal coordination, permitting, construction administration, construction management, and as-built design.
